Sunscreen?

Saturday after I finished writing my talk I decided I would go catch some sun at the pool. I hadn't been out in the sun at all this summer. You would think I would have thought to apply sunscreen rather then tanning lotion right?! Nope! I just kept applying tanning lotion for three hours. BRILLIANT! This is what happened, one bad sunburn, an extremely painful shower, and a very valuable lesson learned!

DOUBLES!!!!

Last night we had the Southern Utah League of Credit Unions BBQ. I had a surprisingly good time, it was really fun and low key. We went to a park played a few water games and ate dinner. Then came the best part of the evening.... tape ball. Everyone rolls the dice and when you roll doubles you can start unwrapping the ball. There is a $20 bill in the middle the person who gets to the middle gets the money! Well I was rollin lucky last night, and guess what... I WON!!! Ben and I actually tag teamed it, he was rollin pretty lucky as well. Ben and I went out to celebrate my winnings, we went to Cold Stone. I had a gift card so we only had to pay $1.43. The rest went to gas, BOOOOO!!! If anyone is going to Vegas let me come with, I roll lucky!

How Fragile Life Is.

Today on ksl.com there is a story about a little girl who was riding her bike last night and hit/got hit by a car. She was thrown from her bike and and sustained head trauma and inter bleeding. She didn't have a helmet on, so her head took the brunt of the fall! They life flighted her to Primary Children's Hospital in critical condition, and she is still there this morning. I don't know why but it struck such a cord with me, I was honestly fighting back tears as I read the story. I'm thoughts are prayers are with the family and the driver. It really is scary to stop and think about how fragile life really is. You never think your going to be the one that is in a situation like this, but it happens. I have just wanted to call everyone and tell them that I love them! I hope everything turns out ok for everyone involved! Please put helmets on your kids!

Space Heater

Ok, now I know I live in St. George, but since everything is so bloody hot outside, everything inside is FREEZING!!! Yes it is 103 today, but I do have a space heater at my desk! I wear skirts or dresses everyday at work, and all I do is sit, so I get really cold really fast. Plus we keep the branch at about 69, thats cold when all you do is sit!

An eventful Tuesday.

Ben and I went and saw Kung Fu Panda last night. I loved it! It was such a cute feel good movie, if I had kids I would for sure take them to go see it. I laughed through the entire movie. I think I'm going to go see it again next Tuesday with my twin nephews.
Clearly I'm to stressed out these days. Yes... that is a grey hair I found in my bangs! Who starts going grey at 19! I guess I do, to much stress. It's time for a vacation, and I get one next week. (well kind of) My family is coming down and I have Thursday and Friday off! YAY!!!
St. George is a bug ridden city, but I didn't think my apartment was. Last night I found this little guy in my bathroom. Can you tell what it is? It's scorpion!!!! Thankfully it was just a baby one, but still! Unfortunately this is just his remains, I killed the little "bug"ger (heehee) just as quickly as I could!

I'm done with FHE!!!!

Last night I went to Family Home Evening for the first time in my new ward. Big mistake... I got there and they asked my to play the piano, I hate when people in my ward know I can play. After the lesson, the second counselor asked me if I would meet with him for a minute. We walked to the bishops office and he said, "Can I talk to you for a minute in here?" I said, "Sure, as long as I'm not getting a calling!" He just stared blankly back at me, I knew I was in trouble. He started to explain to me that I had made some comments in Relief Society two weeks before that impressed Sister Noble. (the relief society president)(I also want to know what I said that impressed someone, lets be honest, I'm not the deepest of people!) He said, " I know this is all happening fast, but sometimes when the Lord knows he wants something he doesn't waste anytime." He then extended a calling to me. Wonderful, I'm now the Enrichment Director, or something like that. I left the office a little over whelmed, ok really over whelmed! We have an activity in two weeks that I need to pull together! As I was walking out I ran into the Bishop and we started talking, the other counselor showed up as well. He said, "How would you like to speak on Sunday?" I started laughing, he couldn't be serious! I've only been in the ward for two weeks. He stared blankly back and me and said, "I'm being serious!" I just stared back and him waiting for him to show a sign of sarcasm, no such luck. He said, "Wonderful your topic is Miracles and Jesus Christ." So I'm speaking on Sunday. I left FHE feeling over whelmed, but knowing that prayers had just been answered! I did learn a very valuable lesson, DON'T GO TO FHE!

What is our world coming to?!

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=157&sid=54963
I usually check ksl.com a couple times during my work day, today was this article about gay and lesbian "rights to marry" in California. It honestly made me sick how these people try to justify what they are doing! It's scary to think how sick and twisted society is becoming. It makes me not want to have kids, what is the world going to be like then?! I agree the the Roman Catholic Bishop in the article that said, "The church cannot approve of redefining marriage, which has a unique place in God's creation, joining a man and a woman in a committed relationship." Amen! People are crazy, and I hope this decision is reversed in November when people can vote on it!

Some final thoughts for the week...

I've had a few thoughts this week that I would like to share...
-Maga is a saint, I'm pretty sure, her calling and election has been made sure!
-It amazes me how many people have bad credit, and how it never seems to be their fault.
-Everything in the finical world is ALWAYS someone else's fault.
-I really don't like quite. I'd rather have noise and commotion!
-I'm so excited for Hawaii.
-I couldn't be more excited for my family to come down in two weeks.
-Jill is still alive.
-I really wish money grew on trees!
-Where is Mr. Right? Heck, I'll even take, Mr. I'll Take You On A Date!
-Free food always tastes better!
-Jamie told me she wanted to punch a baby! (but not hers)
-I kind of can scrapbook.
-Mom is the BEST mom ever.
-Jenny kills me with the stuff she comes up with.
-Living alone is WAY overrated.
-GAS!?!?!?
-Old peopel are either sweet or grouchy. There is no grey area.

When will is stop?!?!?!?!?!

Seriously!! Gas is OUT OF CONTROL!! It's a good thing people come and visit me in St. George because I can no longer afford to drive to SLC! So it has been nice knowing all of you wonderful people, I probably won't see you again until I move back up. Yep, gas is that much down here in St. George, $4.05 a gallon. By the beginning of July.... $5.00, that's what they are saying! When is this madness going to STOP!? (I have to fill up today!)

"The Brooke Jensen Scrapbooking Foundation"

I recently worked on some scrapbook pages, I decided that I really do like it. Because I'm so busy, I decided that now would be a good time to scrapbook my Europe trip. (that was only a year ago!) My darling mom bought me a few things to get started, and Heidi donated a few things to the "The Brooke Jensen Scrapbooking Foundation". Now here is where the the rest of you scrapbooking fools come in, if you have anything you don't really use and would like to donate, I would happily except ANYTHING!!! Seriously I don't have much so I will take anything! When my masterpiece is completed I will show all of you my wonderful work. The joke in the Jensen family is that the girls aren't creative until after they have had sex. Seeing is that is the boat I'm in, WISH ME LUCK!

THE CHURCH IS TRUE!!!!!

Well enough of my Debbie Downer posts, no one comments on them and I love comments. It's been a rough past week adjusting to my new life here in St. George. All week I was looking forward to my new ward, a way to finally meet people. Sunday rolled around and I found myself dreading church, I starting thinking of every possible bad thing that could happen. I sucked it up and was TEN minutes early. I walked in and was met by a happy welcoming bishop, he got my information and made me feel like I had been in the ward for months. The sweetest most humble Polynesian conducted sacrament meeting, he was adorable, although a little difficult to understand through his thick accent. Sacrament meeting was good, although to be honest I didn't get a ton out of it because I was scoping out possible prospects. (they are a few) When the meeting ended I had no idea where Sunday school was, I seriously thought about leaving. No one would have noticed. Just as I was going to leave a girl came up to me and said, "You're Brooke, right?" I have never seen her before in my entire life, she introduced herself and told me where Sunday school was. ( I later found out she is the Relief Society president) I made my way to Sunday school and sat in the back row, I know I put a lot into meeting new people. I sat next to a girl and her boyfriend, after Sunday school she introduced herself to me informed the Relief Society was in the same room, and got to know me. The Relief Society lesson was really good, and I loved the girls there. They were all so nice and welcoming! Many prayers were answered yesterday, and I'm so grateful for that. I think I'm really going to like my new ward. I love that no matter where you go, what ward your in, or who is teaching, the gospel is always the same!

Wishing I had friends...

I had the BEST roommates ever this past year, saying goodbye to them was tuff stuff! I realize even more now how lucky I was to have them. I miss our late night talks about nothing of real importance, the times we would laugh oursleves to tears, and all the times I had a shoulders to cry on. Being down here alone has been so trying for me. (Although I've gotten more sleep in this past week then I did all last semester) I'm hoping that I'm going to find friends down here, I have no plans for this weekend, and no one to even make plans with. I'm sure someone will come along, I'm hoping SOON!!!!

Paige and Morgan

Amy and her girls made the trek to St. George yesterday, kudos to her, she even came with sick kids! Last night after work we went and got In-N-Out Burger, and then back to Amy's parents house (which is so nice). Oakley was sick so I didn't play with her much, but the twins were so much fun. They were all laughs last night. I was playing with them and I had to run out and move my car, when I came back in they were crawling their way to the door to try and find me! Morgan figured out how to play "peak a boo" last night, she thought it was SO funny! (that's what she is doing in the picture) I love these girls, due to my St. George status I don't get to spend much time with them, last night was so much fun to have some one-on-one time with them.

Cleaning house.

This is my sweeping pile of "stuff" from my JUST my
bathroom. This was my mop after cleaning just my bathroom.
GROSS!!!!
I moved into a fairly clean apartment, so I thought. Last night I decided to sweep and mop my bathroom and kitchen. I was disgusted with what I found! I was better off not knowing what germs, grime, and dirt was lurking in my apartment.

Wishing I had something fun to blog about.

Today has been extremely boring! Our systems are down at work, leaving me with nothing to do. Believe it or not, surfing the web all day gets really old! I don't have anything excited to report on, or anything exciting in the near future to report on. (Unless Heidi and Amy come down tomorrow) I have to go buy a broom tonight, that sucks, oh and a mop! DUH! I hate spending money on stuff like that! :( Oh well, I heart a clean apartment. Well that about sums up my exciting, or not so exciting, life in St. George!
